SPEARFISHING
COURSE OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES
This innovative course was developed to fulfill the need for spearfishing safety education in the community, with an emphasis on nurturing this craft as the most sustainable and selective method of fishing. Whether a seasoned underwater hunter or just starting, participants leave this course with the skills necessary to be a well-rounded, safe, and successful hunter.
The course manual is one of the most extensive references ever written on the craft of spearfishing.
Throughout this course participants learn the knowledge and proven techniques used by world record spearfishermen and women, all delivered in a comprehensive and easy-to-learn format. The curriculum includes:

Location Safety
Spearfishing Equipment
Hunting Techniques
Spearfishing Ethics
Catch Management.
REQUIREMENTS
Liability Release/Documents
All required documents must be thoroughly read, signed, dated, and completed before the beginning of this course. Upon signing up you will have the chance to review all required documents and agree to the terms stated. Also, all required documents will be sent to you electronically for your review and signature.
Prerequisites:
FII Level 1 Freediver or Junior Freediver Certification or equivalent
Age Requirement:
16 years old or older
Equipment:
Freediving wetsuit, freediving fins, mask, snorkel, rubber weight belt, weights, spearfishing gloves, and a spearfishing knife.
Learning Materials:
FII Spearfishing Manual, Slideshow Presentation
DURATION
Course Duration:
Five hours of classroom instruction, three hours of confined water training, and an optional add-on spearfishing day to refine new techniques in the local environment.
PRICE
The regular price for this course is $400.00* (the price includes a water transportation fee).
Private courses are typically 550.00* per person (price includes water transportation fee/rental).
All deposit fees must paid in full upon signing up and tuition fees 1 week prior to the beginning of all courses. (cancellation fees apply).
